Lao Shoulder Bags made with cotton and linen fabrics to have a natural feel and look about them. The earthy tones are what I like best about these bags. Lots of them have khadi cotton that I got from India. This type of cotton is hand made and give the pieces a unique look and feel to them. The linen and cotton mixes blend nicely and each one is unique. I would not purposely make the same bag over and over, but just plan for inspiration in the moment of making a shoulder bag with what materials I have available. This is a very large and spacious bag. You can fit a lot inside this. It hangs down at the right place and has a sipper pocket on the inside panel to help keep the little things accessible, like keys or a phone or wallet.
I bought a similar bag when I was young and lived over in Laos. I still have it and use the bag although I recently had to repair the fabrics that had worn out over time. I then decided to make this bag I fell in love with and use daily. The pattern is based off that original Lao bag I bought maybe 25 years ago. The zipper is the only main addition to the pattern that I’ve made.
Dimensions: Main area of bag 18” x 15 3/4” and the strap is 35 1/2” long from the top to the bottom of the bag. There is also a 7” zipper pocket on the inside panel that is about 8” deep x 9” across
I hope you enjoy these unique shoulder bags. They are all handmade and with little flaws to show they were made by a human being. That is why I love handmade products so much. They are not made by a machine and have that handcrafted look to go along with the overall beautiful bags.
Thank you for looking and supporting my small business.
